It is located in the Bay of Plenty about two hours drive from Auckland. Close by is Mount Maunganui, a very popular summer seaside resort. Tauranga is just 40 minutes drive from Rotorua, New Zealand’s best known geothermal resort.
Summers in the region are warm, averaging 24°C, and winters are mild with daily winter maximum temperatures averaging 15°C.
The area is a prosperous farming area, with kiwifruit orchards abundant and dairying and forestry are both major producers.
