Established in 1872, Napier Boys’ High School remains one of New Zealand’s oldest and most successful schools.

We are justifiably proud of our academic achievement, sporting prowess, cultural excellence and grounding in traditional values. We are a member of the International Boys’ Schools Coalition and Super Eight Schools Group, synonymous with excellence in education.

Napier Boys’ High School is located in the beautiful city of Napier, beside the Pacific Ocean. Living in Napier is a unique experience. It is a city known for its climate and beauty. Napier’s architecture and natural setting make it an extremely popular tourist destination. Napier is world-renowned for its Art Deco architecture. This architectural beauty complements the magnificent natural environment of beaches, parks, orchards, palms, pines and the South Pacific Ocean. 30 hectare site, situated by the sea, modern, fully-wireless learning environment, spacious school grounds, including large swimming complex and all weather tennis / hockey facilities, onsite Holt Planetarium, adjacent 13 hectare farm and vineyard, outdoor education camp.

The International Department

The School has been accepting international students since the 1990s. Party to the NZQA Code of Practice, we pride ourselves on the exceptional care, guidance and opportunity, afforded by four dedicated staff in the International Department.

By offering places for only twenty five international students we are able to offer extremely personalised care and management, in a genuine atmosphere of learning.
