Spotswood College welcomes International students to their school for either short or long term stays.
Spotswood College’s International students enjoy life in a friendly, medium sized New Zealand city (pop. 74,000) where it is easy to catch a bus to the city centre or walk to the beach after school for a swim.
The school roll is 755 and currently host up to 20 students who are all living with wonderful host families. We are very proud of the pastoral care provided at Spotswood College and our dedicated, caring International staff are available to students, parents and agents 24/7.
Together with core subjects, Spotswood College offers a wide curriculum choice including: Technology – Textiles, Metal, Wood, Graphics & Electronics, Digital – Computer Studies, Information & Media ; Physical Education & Health including Food & Nutrition; The Arts – Art Design, Painting, 3-D Studies (sculpture), Photography, Art History, Drama, Music Studies & Music Performance; Languages – Spanish, Japanese, French & Te Reo Maori, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) at all levels. Students’ English level and personal goals are considered before class placement. IELTS is also offered in the ESOL Programme.
The availability of multi-level education allows students to study subjects at different levels according to their ability. Semester courses for short term students are also now available. International students are encouraged to gain NZ qualifications.
International Students are actively encouraged to join a sport or cultural group at school or in the community during their time at Spotswood College. Popular choices for students include football, basketball, rugby, surfing, martial arts and kapa haka.
