Our fast wireless network means our students have access to the internet while on the College grounds and our academic departments encourage students to utilise their own electronic devices to support their learning. We offer a full range of academic programmes, with the College excelling in Mathematics, Sciences, Languages including Latin, French, Spanish, German, Chinese and Japanese. We also have a very successful Commerce, Arts and Media Departments. The new state-of-the-art Technology Department offers students the use of some of the latest design tools available.
An extensive range of extra-curricular programmes promotes competitive interest in many sports and cultural activities. Our students continuously succeed at a national level in Rugby, Soccer, Tennis, Swimming, Sailing, Basketball, Debating and our award-winning Wellington College Chorale.
You will live with a New Zealand homestay family, have your own room and be welcomed as a family member. Families are selected and supported by Wellington College’s International staff and are checked by the NZ Police.
We have 20 years of experience in looking after International Students with experienced staff who oversee academic and English language programmes and provide a high level of care for students at school and in their homestay accommodation.
As an International Student, you have a wide range of subjects to choose from. You have the opportunity to select courses you enjoy. We also provide intensive English Language (ESOL) courses. The classes are small and the teachers are experienced specialists in the area of second language teaching.
Boys’ schools are a well-established part of the NZ education system and a popular choice for many New Zealanders. One reason for Wellington College’s popularity is that our academic results are amongst the highest in New Zealand. Although there are no girls in our classrooms, we have a strong partnership with our sister school, Wellington Girls’ College, and there are numerous opportunities for joint activities with girls both in and out of school time.
