Helpful information

Campuses and Facilities

AIS have two campuses located in close proximity to each other a short while away from the city centre. MBA, International Business and English teaching classrooms are found at the larger scenic St Helens campus which acts as the central hub of the institute. This campus also houses the immigration support office, dormitory, library, cafeteria, and the offices of faculty and executive teams. IT, Tourism and Hospitality classrooms are found at the smaller, purpose-built Asquith campus. This campus houses a number of large lecture halls, sports facilities and IT labs in addition to an events venue and a large hospitality practice cafeteria. Both campuses offer plenty of free parking to students and are located near bus and train services.

Academic Programme

All AIS academic programmes are NZQA approved and adhere to the national standard. The various academic student support services offered at the institute alleviate the difficulty of studying at a tertiary level. International students get further support from the institute’s integrated English Language Centre via internal pathways, special classes and a robust internal testing system akin to IELTS. Qualifications level 5-7 require IELTS 6.0; qualifications level 8-9 and above require IELTS 6.5.

AIS have 3 semesters per year for undergraduate qualifications (including Graduate Diploma) and 6 semesters for postgraduate qualifications. This speeds up studies considerably. Students transferring from recognized tertiary education providers get a further advantage by getting more cross-credits. Lectures and classes run mornings and afternoons allowing students to work in the evenings uninterrupted; MBA lectures run on weekends allowing students to work full-time during the week. The institute’s faculty are supportive and approachable; this coupled with limited class sizes results in a better, stress-free environment. The integrated internship placement service offers students opportunities to start building careers early on.

AIS offers the following programmes:

  • Business Administration (incl. MBA)
  • International Business
  • Hospitality Management
  • Information Technology
  • Tourism Management
  • English Language
