Whitireia New Zealand is a government owned polytechnic with seven campuses in four locations.

Established in 1986, Whitireia has established a reputation for producing a wide range of work-ready graduates who have gone on to secure employment both in New Zealand and overseas.

Learning Environment

Whitireia is a multicultural polytechnic reflecting the ethnic richness and values of a diverse society. Staff are dedicated to providing students with an education that will support their chosen career and ensure that they have the right training to begin work in the real world. Staff are concerned about the needs of every student and provide a range of services to ensure a safe, exciting environment for living, learning and sharing. All programmes have strong links to industry and all tutorial staff have many years of industry experience to bring reality into the classroom.

Educational Style

Whitireia offers a post-secondary vocation-based polytechnic type of education. Theoretical knowledge is enhanced by applied in-class projects and assignments as well as industry-based learning.

Study

Whitireia combines industry-experienced lecturers and tutors with excellent pastoral care support to enable students to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to succeed in the “real world”.

English Language Proficiency

Proficiency in English requirements are listed in Whitireia’s International Student Guide, available on request. Whitireia’s Auckland (International) Campus focuses on the provision of tertiary education to speakers of English as a second language and incorporates an English language component into its programmes as well as offering a range of entry points.
